CEA Student Pre-Employment Transition Program

(908) 782-1480

Our pre-employment transition services include group and individualized supports designed to assist students, aged 14 to 21, with exploring and preparing for competitive integrated employment after they graduate from high school. Activities include:

Workplace Readiness Training to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities for finding and maintaining employment, including resume development and interview preparation.

Job Exploration Counseling for identifying personal vocational interests, in-demand occupations and potential career pathways.

Work-Based Learning Experiences at local businesses to explore job opportunities.

Group and Individual Counseling on enrollment opportunities in transition or post-secondary education programs.

Instruction on Self-Advocacy to learn about individual rights, responsibilities, and how to communicate thoughts, concerns and needs as they relate to employment and post-secondary education.

For our standard pre-employment transition services, students are referred to us through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services and may be eligible for up to 20 hours of service in each of the five areas listed above.  These services are individual focused, unpaid, and offer greater support from our staff.

We also offer a paid internship program for students who are more independent and want to take the next steps towards their futures following high school.

Our pre-employment transition services for both programs are generally provided in Hunterdon, Somerset and Middlesex Counties.
